Abstract

The interest in studying the physical education teacher from social representations arises from the idea of knowing how he recognizes himself and how this is intertwined in the construction of his professional identity. This research has an interpretive approach. It was found that within the motivations for physical education teachers to decide to study this career, we find among others the vocation, the experiences with sport during their training and the inspiration generated by their teachers of this subject. Teachers consider that the knowledge acquired during their training was pertinent, however, they agree that where you really end up learning is in the labor field. In the work of the teachers, they share the taste for their work as physical education teachers, in addition, they see themselves as a figure of respect within their schools, they contributed to the integral development of the students. This first approach directly to the identity of the physical education teacher allows to expose a part of their identity, it is necessary the participation of other subjects to continue with the construction of the identity of the physical education teacher.
