Abstract

This article focuses on the initial phase (diagnosis) on Education for Sustainability: Environmental Awareness and Education a project belonging to the linkage with society, the problem that has been identified is that: the campus of the National University of Education (UNAE) which is located in the middle basin of the Burgay River, which leads to the pollution of the river by students. It is a project that focuses on environmental education, the construction of ecological restoration areas UNAE, a farm, among others; in order to eradicate the pollution present in the university area and especially in the Burgay river basin. The first phase of this project focuses on the theoretical systematization about pollution, objectives of the National Plan. In this sense, a methodology is used under the principles of participatory action research to use the linkage with society and experimental sciences; data collection uses the following instruments: interviews, focus groups and workshops. The analysis of the data shows the need for a popular environmental education program for ecological restoration and reforestation to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the environment.
