Abstract

The Veracruzana University contemplates Sustainability as a transversal axis in the rectorial Work Plan 2021-2025; promoting the inclusion of the subject in academic entities and dependencies. Understanding sustainability as the process that contributes to the development of humanity in a sociological framework of satisfaction of culturally situated basic needs, with quality of life opportunities for the living and unborn generations (UV, 2022), the main university actors are the students. , making it imperative that they develop sustainability competencies. Considering this research pertinent with students of various semesters. Its objectives: to describe their perception and practices of sustainability in the classroom of Pedagogy students; Assess your strengths and areas of opportunity. Descriptive research with a mixed approach. Relevant results: Sustainability is: finding the balance between the resources of the environment and the needs of man; main topics in class: Gender Equality and Human Rights; they have the will to carry out sustainable actions; scarce practices in the Protection of the natural environment and Climate Change; they consider that they do not have the necessary knowledge to carry out sustainable actions and need to learn to make decisions and carry out actions based on sustainable criteria; These data mark the relevance to address the areas of opportunity.
