Development of soft skills in virtual learning environments for the Ocular Physiopathology subject

This article presents a teaching innovation project to develop soft skills with the use of Virtual Learning Environments in the subject of Ocular Physiopathology in the career of Medical Technology at the University of Valparaiso. The research methodology is qualitative with an action research design and its objective is to design methodological proposals of workshops with the use of tools in virtual environments to develop soft skills stipulated in the graduate profile of the career, for this purpose, methodological proposals focused on the competencies described in the graduate profile of the career are designed, validated and applied in a dossier. The study uses two sources of information; the first one, a survey to know the students' perception on the development of soft skills in Virtual Learning Environments; the second one, the information from another survey applied to the teachers of the career. The results indicate that the dossier designed was well received by students and teachers, with workshops that strengthen the development of skills such as collaborative work, social commitment, critical reflection in action and leadership, with relevant tools from the students' point of view.
